Out of nowhere, Crosby, George Miller’s dog, started barking at the walls one day. Unable to explain why his dog was behaving this way, he assumed he was fearful.
After this behavior continued for days and a nightly walk didn’t help, George began to worry. Eventually, he installed a camera and the footage had drastic consequences.
1. George an Crosby
George was just a normal guy in his twenties. After moving far away from his family to start a new job he adopted Crosby to keep him company. The two became a great team.
Even though Crosby was adopted from an animal shelter and not a puppy anymore when George took him in they never had issues adapting to each other.
2. Best Friends
Crosby was an easy dog and loyal to George from day one. It was like they had always been part of each other’s life.
During the week George had to leave the house early for work, and they spent the daytime apart. At night and on the weekends the two went for walks and enjoyed each other’s company.
3. Furry buddies
Crosby was a loyal dog and so George could let him run around the neighborhood while he was at work. For eight years Crosby played every day with his two dog friends.
After years of friendship, the other two dogs, who had the same owner, passed away. Crosby mourned the loss of his longtime friends.
4. Changed behavior
Living together with his dog Crosby was easy for George Miller from the very beginning. Crosby also behaved in an exemplary manner towards other people and animals.
He never expected that he would ever have to worry about his beloved dog and his behavior. Sometimes things change more than unexpected overnight.
5. His spot
Being such an easy dog from day one made Crosby’s strange behavior even more confusing for his owner. His beloved dog suddenly changed the way he acted in a way he never expected him to.
Unlike some other dogs he used to be calm at night and never woke George up before. George also noticed that his dog always sat in front of a particular wall, but he did not think much of it.
6. What is on your mind?
One day when George returned from work Crosby seemed so sad. For eight years he had always greeted George when he came home, but suddenly he did not come to the door.
He decided to wait and pay close attention to him. Crosby spent most of his time staring at the wall in the living room. He had heard about hearing loss being an issue with older dogs. He also had the feeling that Crosby was sad about something.
7. Done staring at the wall?
Crosby did not stare at the wall 24/7. His eating was normal and his hearing also seemed to be fine. George had tested his ears by making different noises and his dog reacted to them just like always.
One night George woke up to get some water and Crosby was staring at the wall again.
8. He had enough
George decided that he had enough and thought about options on how to find out what was going on with the wall. Especially because Crosby seemed to be sadder every day.
Finally, George decided to invest in a camera that was able to record at night. He installed the camera before he went to bed and hoped to finally discover what was going on.
9. Is he trying to tell me something
To his surprise his dog Cosby acted completely normal while he was sleeping. He did not even stare at the wall. Crosby slept, played with his toys or ate his food just like he used to do.
The dog would only stare at the wall whenever George was in the room. Was he trying to tell him something by behaving like that?
10. Trying to read the message
Instead of wondering about his dog any longer George decided to inspect the spot on the wall. As soon as he started getting closer to the spot Cosby was staring at he got really excited.
The dog seemed to be really happy about what was going on. After the strong reaction he could not help himself and had to look even closer.
11. What is going on with the wall?
When George got on his knees to see the spot from the eye level of his dog he heard a bark behind him. But there was another noise and it was coming from the wall.
He got really close and heard it again. He still had no clue what was going on behind the wall, but he was about to find out.
12. A small hole
On one part of the wall he found a little hole which was way too small to see what was behind. Although he was only renting the house he decided to open up the wall.
After making the hole big enough he was able to stick his hand inside. At first, he felt nothing but when he touched something soft he pulled his arm back in shock.
13. Not giving up
After recovering from the shock he wanted to know what he just touched. He had the feeling that it was an animal and that Crosby wanted to tell him all along.
If he was right he needed to save the animal that was stuck behind the wall before it was too late.
14. Getting closer
When he stuck his hand in the hole again he was way more careful. And again his fingers touched something tiny and soft. It could have been wall insulation, but when he heard the sound again he knew it was something else.
He thought that it was a possum or a rat which he both did not want in his house.
15. A sweet surprise
But the sound seemed familiar and reminded him of a cat. The space behind the wall was quite small why he expected a kitten. He finally was able to pull the animal out.
The little animal looked scared, although he felt like he had seen Cosby play with that particular cat before.
16. How did the cat end up there
The small cat was dusty and weak. Cosby had acted strange for several days and that must have been how long the kitten was inside the wall.
He also checked if there was another kitten in the hole, but it was empty. Before trying to figure out how it got there he decided to clean the baby up while Cosby was watching him closely.
17. Cleaning the baby
Cosby was still happy and never stopped wagging his tail. George cleaned up the cat which he guessed to be only a few months old. The young man did not know much about cats and decided to look for its owner.
Maybe he was even able to find the mother. Before he started searching he put some food and water for the kitten in a small bowl.
18. Searching in the neighborhood
By the time he started searching it was already lat, but George decided to still ask around. None of his neighbors was missing a cat and George had to return home to the kitten.
George printed out flyers with a picture of the kitten hoping to find his owner that way.
19. Getting it checked
He waited a few days and still did not get any calls. George decided to take the cat to the vet to check for a chip, but no chip could be found.
In the meantime Cosby and the cat became very close. Although George really wanted to return the cat to its home he felt like he would break his dogs heart by taking away his friend.
20. Becoming friends
The vet had suggested bringing the kitten to a shelter to find him a new home. After watching Cosby and the cat he was not sure if he could take her away from the old dog.
George knew that Cosby was friendly with other animals, but he had no idea that cats and dogs could be this close.
21. A new home
After thinking about his options for a while George decided to keep the cat. He was too worried that it would be put down in the shelter.
The only way to make sure that the cat was happy was keeping it. George knew that Cosby was very happy about his decision.
